Horse Riding with Emanuele at Il Gelsomino Ranch

I like animals in general but my experience with horses was limited to few occasions.  The first time I was a child on holiday and I decided I wanted a white horse (damned ladies!) ..but he was too high for me and I had fear! The second time was in Mexico on a beach and wood… and it was an amazing crazy experience!!

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day and I decided to try the riding tour with Emanuele. Arizona, my sweet white horse was waiting for me. Emanuele, the owner of the ranch explained me how to ride the horse with extreme calm and attention. I was very impressed as I image how many times he used to do every day..but he did in any case explaining every step. After a tour in the barn we moved outside. We climbed the hill reaching the main street to go then on a small path.

Rolling hills with gorgeous panorama where waiting us. I passed on the main street by car so many times but I never had the occasion to go in these small paths and to admire the nature and enjoy the panorama. I tried to take some pictures..but believe me..ask Emanuele to do for you, horse riding and shooting can be very difficult and you might lose your phone!

Bushes of rosemary, sage, fruit trees and a colorful nature was along the streets as well as a breathtaking view.

Emanuele told me that he usually  stops along the path for a break eating what he can take from the horse…cherries, figs 🙂 many sweeties at hand!  We passed along enchanting paths, I was able to admire the panorama and be pampered by Arizona, my horse.

The main feeling I ha was an endless freedom.

Sometimes I had to recall Arizona because she liked to stop eating the grass along the trip and I loved her trotting!  I loved feeling the horse and admiring nature around me. We went in a valley and we discover the traces of wild animals (most of them not active during the day!)  their nests and and traces of the sea that was also in Montaione. In many rocks there are shellfishes showing that in the past the sea was here on the hills. I discovered some beautiful plants and spring flowers and enchanting corners that I couldn’t find by myself or by car.

Emanuele told me that they often do the sunset tour going on the horse trails when the sun goes down  as well as tours in truffle trails.

Finally when we went back to the ranch Emanuele showed me an area  where guests can relax, have a drink (with their bar) and organize dinners. In this way a family with children can take part in a lesson and the other part of the family can relax in the garden as well as have dinner all together.

In summer at the end of the sunset tour  they usually organize a fire camp with beefsteaks, beer and fun around the fire…I can’t wait for doing it!

Thank you Emanuele for your passion, for your job, thank you Arizona for your patience with me!
