Guided tour of San Miniato

We opened in 2000 and Rolf and Johanna, a German couple, he professor and university principal, she retired, were our guests every year. They are now part of the family, they have participated in our weddings, children’s birthdays and this year to offer them a different experience I have offered them a guided tour of San Miniato. They were thrilled to visit the town and learn more about the history of the various buildings.

We visited together with Giusy who told us the wonders of the town in German the Church of San Domenico, Piazza del Seminario, the Palazzo Comunale with the Sala delle 7 Virtù and the Sala del Consiglio and the Cathedral of San Miniato. They told me they had visited San Miniato at other times in 18 years but they had never stopped to admire the frescoes of San Domenico, the baptismal font of the Cathedral and had no idea of the beauty of the halls of the Municipality.

A visit with an expert guide of the territory enriches the tour experience of a city because it allows you to go to the bottom, to understand the history and not just to think that “it’s beautiful”! Our visit ended with an excellent lunch at Maggese, a vegetarian restaurant located in the historic center..but this is another post!

Every 2 ‘Friday of the month from June to September San Miniato Promozione organizes free guided tours of the city (meeting at 10 am in Piazza del Popolo, at the San Miniato Promozione headquarters), reservation required, limited number, max 20 people Info and reservations: 0571.42745
