The Diocesan museum of sacred art is located in the sacristy spaces of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and San Genesio. Strongly desired by the native painter Dilvo Lotti, the museum preserves numerous furnishings and objects from local churches, splendid ceramic basins decorated with zoomorphic and geometric motifs of North African origin and very interesting works of art. In all there are about 50 works divided over 2 floors. Among the various works stands out a splendid Madonna by Ludovico Cardi known as Cigoli, Jacopo di Cione with “Santa Caterina d’Alessandria”, Neri di Bicci and a beautiful bust of the Redeemer attributed to Agnolo di Polo, a pupil of Verrocchio. I loved the very brightly colored paintings of a Flemish painter who is however anonymous. The ticket has a very low entrance fee and it is possible to request the guide especially for groups. A must visit to appreciate one of the richest collections of works of art in San Miniato.
